In the world of entrepreneurship, change is inevitable. As the founder of Corvus Botanicals, where I've been handcrafting natural, organic and botanical skincare since 2017, I've decided to embark on a new adventure—closing my product business and pivoting to education. This decision has been fueled by the challenges of scaling while juggling the joys and demands of new motherhood. Today, I want to share the reasons behind this shift and unveil the exciting path ahead.
The Corvus Botanicals Story
Corvus Botanicals has been a labor of love, bringing natural skincare products into the lives of many. From soap bars and shampoo bars to lip tints, candles, and lotion sticks, each product has been crafted with care, using the finest botanical ingredients. However, as the business grew, so did the complexities of scaling operations.
The birth of my child brought a newfound perspective. Scaling a product-based business while being a new mom posed unforeseen challenges. The late nights crafting the perfect soap bar and the meticulous sourcing of ingredients became an overwhelming task. I work by myself, with no employees. So with fulfilling orders for my customers and wholesale shops, it became all too much.
I started resenting my business when I had to be in my workshop for hours on end, away from my daughter. It was time to reassess my priorities and find a way to share my passion for herbal creations without compromising my role as a mother.
The Decision to Pivot
Closing the product side of Corvus Botanicals was not an easy decision, but it was a necessary one. I could either hire employees so that I could scale, I could sell the business, or I could shut down entirely. But none of those options felt right for me.
So, instead of viewing it as an end, I see it as a transformation—a shift from tangible products to the intangible beauty of knowledge. The decision to pivot to education was born out of a desire to empower others to create their own botanical wonders at home.
I know this will be a hard transition for some of my loyal customers, but this truly feels like the direction I am being called towards. And I feel strongly that this is the right path for me.
Why Education?
Education is the cornerstone of empowerment. My journey into the world of botanical creations started with a simple curiosity and a deep appreciation for nature's gifts. I want to ignite that same spark in others, enabling them to embark on their own home-herbalist journey.
Moreover, the digital era has opened up unprecedented opportunities for learning and sharing knowledge. Online courses and resources provide a flexible and accessible way for individuals to dive into the world of home-herbalism from the comfort of their homes.
